Plastics and solar technology

An article from January, but interesting nonetheless about how solar technologies are now using plastic as a primary material, lowering cost and increasing durability and ease of installation. While many companies are developing the technology to use plastic in photovoltaic panels, the key challenge facing them now is improving the efficiency of these devices which average about 7-8% (silicon PVs get a return of around 15%).
