India falling behind other BRIC countries in digital access

A new report, the Digital Inclusion Index, rated countries’ efforts to expand digital access in the developed and developing world. The report noted the challenges facing India especially, as one of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), where the technological disparities between rural and urban areas are significant. The main barriers for digital development of the rural areas in India are costs, poor education and the lack of connectivity.
